Pediatric Dentist in Twinsburg, OH
Congratulations on the arrival of your baby! Are you prepared for the arrival of your baby’s first tooth? The caring staff at Dr. Laura Adelman’s dental practice are dedicated to helping your child develop good oral hygiene skills at an early age, so their healthy little smiles grow into healthy big smiles. The office will make your child’s visit pleasant, non-frightening and comfortable and answer all questions to put him or her at ease with the process.
Caring for Gums
It is best to start a good dental routine from the beginning, after breast or bottle-feeding your baby, gently rub a clean damp washcloth or piece of gauze across your baby’s gums. This practice will clear your infant’s mouth of any lingering liquids and begin building good daily oral care.
Baby’s First Tooth
When your baby’s first tooth arrives it is time to begin using a baby toothbrush. At this stage, toothpaste isn’t necessary; just dip the brush in water before brushing. Don’t give up if your little one doesn’t react well to the toothbrush, go back to using the damp washcloth for awhile and try to gradually introduce it.
First Dentist Appointment
It is suggested that you bring your baby in for their first visit within six months of their first tooth, usually around their first birthday. The earlier your baby visits us, the more likely they are to avoid problems. Dr. Laura and her staff will ensure you and your baby are comfortable during your first visit, making sure it is a positive experience for everyone. You can expect that we will provide state-of-the-art preventive dental care in a safe, nurturing, and caring environment.
