Special Healthy Start Initiatives in NE Florida
- The Magnolia Project – a nationally recognized Healthy Start project to improve the health of at-risk women before pregnancy. The goal of the neighborhood-based project is to reduce racial disparities in poor birth outcomes. Funded by the federal Healthy Start program.
- The Azalea Project– a targeted, community-based program for pregnant and parenting substance involved women at risk for HIV. Funded by Healthy Start, the City of Jacksonville and the Women’s Giving Alliance.
- Safe Sleep Partnership– a collaboration of community agencies working to prevent sleep-related deaths, the leading cause of infant mortality after the first month of life.
- Black Infant Health Community Council– a network of community leaders working to raise awareness about infant mortality and its impact on the Black community through education, advocacy and support.
- Real Dad, Real Man – a program recognizing the positive contributions of fathers to the health and development of their children.
- Kid Care: Low cost health insurance program for kids under 18 years old.
- Mom Care: Counseling and education program that helps pregnant women navigate the Medicaid system.
