Baby Shower and Baby Gift Registry
Many retailers offer baby shower or baby gift registry programs to help new parents with their "new baby" shopping needs. Signing up for a baby gift registry helps to eliminate hassle and avoid hurting anyone's feelings, be specific when you prepare your gift registry! Indicate quantity, color, pattern or stain, style or model number size, etc. Your family and friends will be happy to know that they are buying you exactly what you want! Remember, if it's not what you wanted, you are likely to return it or not use it.

When choosing items for your baby gift registry, include a wide range of items - considering both price and practicality. A group of friends might want to pitch in and buy you a big ticket item that you would really like while a neighbor or co-worker might opt for an item that you will not survive without! And give them plenty of options — no one likes to choose from a skinny or picked over wish-list!

If you are not planning to register or are planning to register with two retailers, you might want to share with your guests some basic information about the purchases you have already made or are planning to make elsewhere. For example: let guests know the manufacturer's pattern or design theme you have chosen for the room. If you are not a fan of pastels or yellow ducks, let people know! OR if many of your needs have already been met, you can urge guests to fill baby's book shelf with their favorite children's book or donate to a local children's charity in your baby's name.

And don't forget the staff!
Specialized retailers, such as baby stores, offers a valuable resource to soon-to-be parents . . . a knowledgeable sales staff. Keep in mind, a trained salesperson will likely be more familiar with the baby products that are available, and better able to match you with products that best suit your needs.

Remember, everyone's needs are a bit different! What your best friend thought was essential, may be useless in your home. Ask other moms for their opinions, but use your best judgment! You may be new at this, but you'll quickly learn that . . . "Mother knows best"!
