Choosing Your Perfect Stroller

When expectant parents start looking for strollers, they oftentimes are looking for one stroller that does it all.  Typically in New England, they want a stroller that will fold compact for their car, and is also rugged enough to handle the snow in the winter or a rustic trail in New Hampshire. It should also be able to transport an infant carseat and be able to last until their child is 3 or 4 years old.

Alas, that one singularly perfect stroller doesn’t exist, but the sooner you can accept that the less frustrated you will be. You will also be more focused on choosing the right stroller or combination of strollers to fit your lifestyle. For instance, if you are always on the move, out and about in the great outdoors, but travel only on occasion, prioritize finding a stroller that will support your active lifestyle. If the time comes when you will need a lightweight stroller for travel, you’ll get one at that point. If you do a lot of traveling, or your idea of a great weekend is snuggled on the sofa with a good book or your latest movie rental, don’t invest in a big-wheeled stroller at first. Get something lightweight and portable, and if you take up jogging, you can gear up accordingly.

The reality is, most parents end up with a minimum of two strollers. You will probably want to pair a lightweight stroller that folds compactly in the trunk of your car with a larger, heavier stroller for neighborhood strolls (and snowy sidewalks). So think about things you like to do now and all the wonderful activities that you will enjoy doing with your new baby, and you will be sure to find the strollers to fit your lifestyle.
