Immunization Schedule
Immunizations are an important part of preventive medicine, as well as a school requirement. Your child's first shot is generally given in the newborn nursery to prevent hepatitis B. Subsequent immunizations are given to prevent diphtheria, pertussis (whooping cough), tetanus (DPT), polio (OPV), hemophilus influenza B (HIB), varicella (chicken pox vaccine), measles, mumps, and rubella (German measles, MMR), according to the following schedule:
Birth to 6 months — Hepatitis B#1
2 months — DTaP#1, HIB #1, IPV #1, Prevnar #1
4 months — DTaP#2, HIB #2, IPV #2, Prevnar #2
6 months — DTaP#3, HIB #3 Prevnar #3
9 months — Hepatitis B #212 months — Varicella (chicken pox vaccine), Hepatitis B #3, Prevnar #4
15 months — HIB #4, MMR #1
18 months — DTaP#4, IPV #3
5 years old — MMR #2, TB screen, DTaP, and IPV #4
