Bringing Home Baby
A Checklist of What You'll Need for Your Little
One
- 6 or more one-piece, leg-snap knit pajamas or infant gowns.
- 2 blanket sleepers (for winter babies)
- 6-8 cotton side-snap undershirts or "onesies"
- Snowsuit for winter babies
- 4 or more booties or baby socks
- 6 or more receiving blankets
- 8 cloth diapers for birp cloths
- Baby mittens (to prevent scratching if baby is prone to this) or
for winter babies
- 2 or more hats appropriate for season.
- Crib/bassinette (depending on choice)
- 4 or more fitted crib sheets
- 4 or more fitted waterproof mattress pads
- Crib bumpers
- Crib mobile
- Rocking Chair
- Infant Seat
- Changing table with necessities:
- Diapers
- Baby wipes or lots of baby washcloths and warm water
- Diaper Pail
- Diaper Rash ointment (such as Balmex,Desitin)
- Baby cornstarch
- Baby oil
- If Cloth-diapering:
- 3-4 dozen diapers
- 8 diaper covers
- 4 sets diaper pins (if not using pinless diapers)
- Ivory Snow or Dreft, or other gentle laundry detergent
- If Disposable Diapering:
- Disposable or washable nursing pads
- Nursing bras
- Nursing pillow
- Nipple cream, such as Lansinoh
- 6 4-oz. Bottles, 6 8-oz. Bottles with matching nipples,rings and accessories
- Sterilizer if not using dishwasher to sterilize
- Bottle Warmer (optional)
- 6 bibs
- Formula-(ask pediatrician for recommendation)
- Baby Tub
- Sponge-Form to lay baby on
- Gentle Baby Bath (such as Baby Magic or Johnson's)
- Baby Shampoo (or just use the Baby Bath lotion in the beginning)
- Baby washcloths (these are better than adult cloths
thinner and
more flexible)
- Baby towels (hooded)
- Baby-safe scissors or clippers
- Vaseline
- Sterile gauze
- Rubbing alcohol, Q-tips (good for cord care)
- Gas drops
- Infant Tylenol
- Saline nose spray
- Liquid Benadryl
- Baby decongestant
- Baby thermometer
- Bulb syringe
- CAR SEAT
- Neck pillow for tiny babies to keep head from flopping
- Possible Car- Window Shade to avoid direct sun
- Diaper Bag
- Stroller
- Infant chest carrier
- Pacifier
