Guided Birth Imagery

Guided Birth Imagery, a form of hypno-pain therapy, is an alternative to pain control during labor as well as during the months leading up to that point. As a hypnotherapist, I prepare each woman for the process of labor (before, during, and after) using hypnosis to manage the pain, relieve morning sickness, and help relieve post-partum depression.

How does this therapy work?
Each program is tailored to each individual’s needs and consists of multiple sessions. Through hypnosis, the subconscious mind goes through a de-programming process of all old patterns and helps to eliminate fears and concerns. In each session, we teach pain management, relaxation techniques, and ways to avoid medication.

Hypnotherapists concentrate on enabling the person’s mind to take charge of their body. As a result, this therapy aids in helping a mother achieve a healthy pregnancy and a happy beginning for her and her child.

What is Hypnotherapy?
Hypnotherapy focuses on the mind, body, and spirit connection. Here we explore together an individual’s own ability to become empowered to take charge of their pain management, anxieties, and stress.

Together we discover what pushes the individual’s buttons for fear, worry, and concern. In learning what a person’s basic makeup is mentally, physically, and spiritually, we are able to tailor hypnotherapy for the individual. When the sessions have concluded, the person is no longer afraid of hypnosis because they then have a personal understanding of it. When there is a bond of trust and understanding created between the therapist and the individual, this ensures a symbolic relationship and a healing experience.

How your mind can control your pain?
If you were to put pressure on your leg without bruising yourself, you can learn to manage that pain. At this point, we could start going through the levels of what mental image would work for the individual. We would strengthen that image so that you were in a deep state of relaxation. This is how we start the process of managing birthing contractions and the pain associated with the contractions. You would learn to have control over the pain through hypnotherapy so that when faced with the pain, you will no longer fear being able to control it, because you already have.

Your mind can control your body’s reaction to pain. Your mind in a state of deep relaxation can be a non-medical alternative to taking a tranquilizer or other pain medication without the side effects and any possible harm to your unborn child. As a result, this can aid in achieving a healthy pregnancy and a happy beginning.
