This research study evaluates whether smoking cessation counseling and the use of a nicotine inhaler can help pregnant women quit smoking. The nicotine inhaler doubles quit rates in non-pregnant smokers and the inhaler may also help pregnant women who are unable to quit smoking. Risks of miscarriage, low birth weight and pre-mature delivery are much higher with pregnant smokers compared to non-smokers. Quitting smoking at any time during pregnancy will help to improve the chance of having a healthy baby.
