Pleacement Families

Alexandria School looks forward to working closely with you to find a nanny or newborn care specialist ("baby nurse") for your family.  Alexandria School is committed to the highest quality child care, and ensures that:

  • Placement is exclusively for nannies and newborn specialists who have graduated from our programs and have demonstrated commitment to the profession.
  • Our personalized placement process targets a superb match between families and nannies.

Practicum Families

Alexandria School's practicum family opportunities are available to families in the area.  Their student nannies and newborn care specialists provide live-out childcare as they gain invaluable first-hand experience.

In exchange, student nannies provide 8 hours of in-home childcare per week for the bulk of the school term. A student newborn care specialist provides 12 hours of consecutive in-home newborn assistance; it may be possible to line up multiple students.

Host Families

Alexandria School's host family opportunities are available to families in the area.  Their student nannies live with host families during the school term and provide regular childcare in exchange for room, board and the family's invaluable education and evaluation.

Infant/Child CPR and First Aid

Learn how to protect and save your child for when life’s little accidents occur. 

Newborns (0-3 months)

Bring your newborn to his or her first class!  Carolyn's Kids® Newborns covers feeding, scheduling, crying, clothing, equipment, sleep, coping with advice, diapering, skin care, bathing, pediatricians, infant massage, nutrition and more. 

Infants (3-6 months)

Carolyn's Kids® Infants covers feeding, scheduling, toys, reading, equipment, nutrition, pacifiers, strollers, clothing, play, language development, childproofing and more. 

Crawlers (6-9 months)

Carolyn's Kids® Infants covers feeding, scheduling, toys, reading, equipment, nutrition, pacifiers, strollers, clothing, play, language development, childproofing and more. Classes are taught in a fun, relaxed, intimate atmosphere.

Grandparents’ Update

Brush up on the latest in infant care for your new grandson or granddaughter. 

Daddy Boot Camp

A pre-baby crash course driven by father-to-father interaction.  A recent new dad will be on-hand to give real-life perspectives.  Class will cover the basics of newborn care, including feeding, sleeping, comforting, bathing, skin care, diapering, dressing and swaddling, as well as information about postpartum care of the mother.
