Simply put, we have a true love for people, and so believe that a great portrait happens from the inside out. To Amy Hoga Photography, the most beneficial element in obtaining the very best portraits is without a doubt being able to establish a sincere connection to you as an individual. Even before the active photographic process begins, we take many extra steps toward finding out your hidden artistic desires and acknowledging the comfort zone that will best represent your characteristics and personal style.

To us, portraiture is a Fine Art Service, one that requires strong technical skill, as well as creativity. We maintain a workflow that is not contrived or unnatural; we click away in moments where true feelings and emotions shine through, for that magical energy is the essence of portraiture. We will ask you to play, have fun & connect as a family to allow your natural beauty to glow from within. We shoot in a very casual fashion-- allowing the children to explore, relax, and just be themselves. Please allow 1-3 hours for your session for this process to be its best! Amy Hoga Photography was founded on the belief that a portrait should, above all, capture the spirit, evoke emotion, and stir the heart. You will find yourself engaged in conversation, as we remain well-aware of your best expressions, capturing them as one would tell a story.

Our preferences include the use of mostly natural and available light, as we push the limits and break many standard rules. We shoot into the light. We are eager to work on cloudy, overcast days, and have even worked in the rain. We aren’t afraid of the dark, or of dingy conditions. We like a mixture of urban and classic, contemporary and simplistic, ethereal and rustic. We offer the classic, but not traditional. We don’t seek out the ‘traditional smile’, the ‘perfectly centered image’, the ‘perfect pose’ and you will never hear us say “cheese.” We go after the real moments that you will treasure long after the session is over…
