At Progress West HealthCare Center, St. Charles County’s newest full-care medical facility, our Birthing Center services are delivered by an expert team of caregivers, who keep you and your specific needs in the forefront.
Our goal is to provide you with enhanced patient care, in which you play an important role. Throughout your stay at Progress West, our team of caregivers will work with you every step of the way to ensure that you and your baby receive the ultimate in care.
We’re not just a hospital; we are a medical community. When you have your baby at Progress West, you are benefiting from a medical team backed by the quality and strength of BJC HealthCare, as well as the latest in cutting-edge technology. Through our partnership with St. Louis Children’s Hospital, you’ll have access to a 24-hour pediatric specialist, or you may choose to have your community pediatrician come in to see your baby. Because building from the ground up offers greater flexibility, we’ve been able to incorporate the latest designs in healthcare, with personal touches that will make your and your baby’s stay with us more soothing, safe and memorable.
Private Suites
Our labor-delivery-recovery-postpartum birthing suites are designed for optimum privacy, comfort and care.
Our private birthing suites boast 415 square feet of home-like accommodations in which your baby can room-in at your bedside if you choose. Family members and patient support partners can bond with baby, too. Each suite includes a sleeper sofa so they can stay the night as well. Bathrooms with showers are located strategically near each bed for easy accessibility and safety to minimize falls. In addition, each suite includes individual temperature controls and is angled to give patients a room with a view for maximum, natural light.
We’re Prepared
In the event of complications or an emergency, Progress West staffs specialists who are trained to care for high-risk patients — both mothers and babies. Patients also benefit from ongoing interaction with the Care Team. A separate operating room for Cesarean births is located near the birthing suites, with a separate, private recovery room. A St. Louis Children’s Hospital neonatologist is always available, if needed.
Bedside Nursing Changes
At Progress West, there are no nursing stations. Instead, shift changes are performed in your room, so you take part in key communication exchanges between nurses. You stay informed throughout discussions so your questions are answered, your feelings are heard and there are no misunderstandings concerning your or your baby’s condition and needs.
Transitional Care
When you and your baby are ready to leave, our Care Team will help you transition from the hospital to what we see as the next level of care — your home. We make sure you have all the necessary instructions and information before your stay ends with us, ensuring your return home is a safe and happy one.
