Yoga ChildCongratulations! We hope you are feeling well and welcome you to experience the joys of participating in our prenatal and postpartum yoga and wellness programs.
At Yoga Child, we understand that pregnancy is a time of wonder; accompanied by great change and growth on physical, spiritual and emotional levels. Our programs are designed to help you flow through these changes in a supported setting, while preparing your body and soul for a holistic birth experience. The passage into motherhood is a life changing experience that is unique to every woman who makes the journey. Recognizing this, we offer a variety of yoga and wellness programs designed to follow your physical and emotional needs into motherhood. Below are some of the programs that we offer. Please feel free to call us with any questions you may have.
Mind Body Birth: A preparation course for Couples
An Integrated & Inspiring approach to your birth —
The intention of our program is to create a supportive space for you and
your partner to explore your feelings & questions about pregnancy
and birth so that you are better able to make decisions that are right
for you and to move through your birth with awareness and confidence.
Childbirth preparation is not just about receiving knowledge, but involves
peeling off the cultural layers of fear and doubt while reconnecting to
the inherent wisdom of women’s bodies and cultivating trust in the
birth process. This program is designed to help prepare you and your partner,
body and mind, for the transformative experience of giving birth to your
baby, as well as to yourselves as parents. Enjoy prenatal yoga to soothe
pregnancy related discomforts and to prepare your physical and mental
body for birth. We will provide you and your partner with hands on practical
applications to enhance your pregnancy & birth. Additionally, enrollment
in our program entitles the pregnant mom to unlimited access to prenatal
yoga classes at Yoga Child from 11/7-12/19. Through mindfulness practice
you will learn to cultivate present moment awareness and use it as a powerful
birth preparation tool. You will learn to draw your attention inward and
work together with your breath and body in rhythms that move naturally
with the birth process. Through dialogue and discussion with Beth Curtis
and Christy Santoro, you will come to have a greater understanding of
the biology of birth, the pleasure pain cycle of hormones, nutrition in
pregnancy & the informed uses of medication and technology. Enjoy
a practical understanding of what happens in your body during birth &
learn specific techniques to help you normalize pain and move through
contractions. Partners can enjoy a “partner only” question
and answer insight session with other partners who have made the journey.
Deepen your trust in your relationship and in your own body! Ob/Midwife
release required. Please download this form from our site.
Prenatal Yoga
Explore various postures designed to prepare your body for birth while
also easing some of the physical discomforts that can accompany pregnancy.
Learn how to use your instinctual breath, rhythm and voice to prepare
for a holistic birth experience. We explore your changing and evolving
world, discuss birth wish lists and many more pregnancy and birth related
topics.
Couples Prenatal yoga and Birth Awareness
Offered once per season, this prenatal yoga class is designed for you
& your birthing partner. Explore yoga asanas and birthing postures
that can be done safely and soothingly in tandem. Your partner will learn
gentle pressure applications which can promote a deeper sense of comfort
& relaxation during pregnancy and labor. Dates for this 90 minute
workshop are selected each season based on client preference and need.
Prenatal Community Gathering
This program was inspired by the discussion portion of our prenatal yoga
class. For centuries pregnant women have been taking solace in the beauty
of connecting with and receiving support from other pregnant women. We
continue the tradition here in our community. Relax upon cushions in our
soothing studio space while Jill Cummings, MSW/LSW, facilitates group
discussions based upon the emotional needs of the women in the group.
Explore your feelings about pregnancy, birth and motherhood, your changing
world, and your evolving relationships with yourself, and your loved ones.
Yoga Babies
This yoga class is for you to attend with your new baby once you have
had your postpartum check up and until your baby is actively crawling.
Your baby will share your yoga mat and share your joy as we spend our
time together engaging in a blend of rhythmic, restorative and energizing
yoga. Please bring a diaper bag, baggies and receiving blanket.
Yoga Crawlers
(for mothers and crawling babies)
Your crawlers are eager to move about the room and will want to explore
our child safe space on their hands and knees. The idea here is to let
them come and go from your yoga mat while you enjoy your yoga practice.
A portion of each class will be dedicated to interactive yoga with your
crawler.
Postpartum community gathering
Becoming a mother is one of the most grand and life changing events in
a woman's world. The saying,"It takes a village," begins to
take on new meaning. Motherhood can be filled with the sweetest and most
tender moments imaginable while also presenting us with a new set life
challenges. Come gather with Jill Cummings, MSW/LSW, and explore the many
emotional changes of motherhood in a nurturing and supportive group setting.
Infant Massage for parents
Bond with your baby through the art of touch! Join massage therapist,
Debby Zak as she provides you with hands on skills which will enhance
your connection with your baby in the most intimate and loving way.
Learn to relieve infant colic naturally and to promote relaxation for you and your baby. A portion of this program addresses your own physical comfort as a new mother by introducing you to concepts of postpartum structural integration within your own body and the mechanics of proper alignment while feeding, nursing and carrying your little loved one.
Connecting Women: a yoga workshop for infertility
If you have a friend who is having difficulty conceiving or is in the
midst of assisted reproductive therapy please let them know that yoga
can help. This workshop provides an opportunity for stress relief, body
replenishment and a way to connect with other women faced with the emotional
and physical challenges of infertility.
We wish you a peaceful and a blessed journey into motherhood.
